Established in 1997, the Királyudvar Estate and Winery is headquartered along the main street in the southern village of Tarcal within the Tokaj region of Hungary. Today, we cultivate 75 hectares of first-class fields across six hillside vineyards within the appellations of Mád and Bodrogkeresztúr. With a modest annual estate production of 4,500 cases, our world-class winery sells its handcrafted wines through exclusive distribution partnerships in Hungary and other select international wine markets.

"My enchantment with Tokaj and its renowned place in the history of the wine world led me down a wonderful path to Királyudvar. Together with my family, I made a commitment to Tokaj and secured the company's first ten hectare parcel, which eventually led to our first vintage wine, the '98 dessert Aszú." - Anthony Hwang

Kiralyudvar Winery (500 ml) 2007 'Cuvée IIona' Late Harvest, Tokaj
Rating: 96

From the estate Huet owner Tony Hwang launched with legendary Tokaji winemaker Istvan Szepsy, this is a shining example of the newer style late-harvest wines coming out of Tokaj. Named for Hwang's wife, Ilona is pressed directly from late-harvested, botrytized grapes (not macerated like aszu). The effect is a wine that smolders with smoke and honey, botrytis' effects fanned by furmint's fiery acidity and flavor. It tastes of broiled peaches, spice and salt; it feels deep, sultry and confident to the point of domineering. Let it take center stage, paired with an oozy, ripe cheese.
