About Domaine Huet: Loire Valley’s most famous estate was founded in 1928 by Victor Huët,
and rose to prominence under his son, Gaston. Gaston’s son-in-law, Noël
Pinguet, joined the estate in the 1970s, and built on the Huët legacy until he left in 2012. Noël Pinguet was one of the first French vignerons to
adopt biodynamic viticulture. He credits biodynamics with enhancing the
personalities of the estate’s terroirs.
Vineyard Information:
Vouvray is made solely from Chenin Blanc, and all Huët grapes are
harvested by hand. All of the estate vineyards lie on Vouvray’s esteemed
Première Côte. The Côte’s limestone-rich clay soils yield wines of
intensity and great longevity. Purchased in 1957, Le Mont’s clay has a
green tinge, and ample stone and silica present. The wines are the
estate's most reticent, but develop the strongest perfume with age.
Size: 8 hectares.
Winemaking Notes: This off-dry white wine is crafted with gentle precision to showcase this balance and structure. Domaine Huet patiently waits to harvest berries at optimal ripeness before they are finely pressed. A controlled fermentation occurs in French oak barrels using natural yeasts living in our cellars. The wine is then left to age for six months until it is ready for bottling.
Tasting Notes: A refined tropical nose of guava and pineapple with a touch of fresh almonds and zesty citrus. On the mouthwatering palate, a waxy and creamy textured surface gently coating a stony structure. Notes of caramel and tropical fruit permeate through a long uplifting finish.
