Winemaking Notes: Cold soaked for four days, wild yeast fermentation for ten days, 1-3 pumpovers per day, 100% malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels, aged for 24 months, no fining, filtered

Tasting Notes: It has a very distinctive bouquet with superb delineation and a sense of restraint, allowing those aromas of brambly blackberry, licorice and dried rose petals to unfold. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and plenty of earthy, tarry fruit infused with salted licorice and white pepper.

Valley Information: There are two faces to the Maule Valley - northern Maule and southern Maule (around Cauquenes). To the north, its beautiful rolling hills with granitic soils on top and clay structure below allow for deep root development and are perfect for growing Bordeaux varieties. The southern part is filled with small family old-vine vineyards - dry-farmed Carignane, Malbec, and Pais are found. Generally, in Maule, the region receives sufficient rain so that irrigation is not necessary. The wines are characterized by bright acidity and juicy fruit.

92 points (2011 vintage) International Wine Cellar, 2/14
"Opaque ruby. A heady bouquet evokes red berry preserves, potpourri and smoky minerals, with slow-building spiciness. Nervy and delineated on the palate, offering sappy raspberry and cherry flavors and a suave note of candied rose. Finishes with excellent focus and length, leaving floral pastille and spice notes behind."
