About: The Riesling for this wine was sourced solely from our estate, planted in the mid 1970’s. As fermentation of this small lot started to slow, our winemaker knew he had found a gem in the cellar that deserved its own label. The P is for Pascal, current owner of Brooks Wines and the son of our founding winemaker, Portland native, Jimi Brooks.

Winemaking Notes: This Riesling is the last fruit to come onto the winery deck every year. The grapes can withstand the late fall rains and cooling temperatures in the vineyard. The spread of noble rot is welcomed as a partial shriveling of the fruit intensifies the sugars. The grapes are gently pressed whole cluster and transferred to a variety of smaller tanks after a short settling out period. The Sweet P lot sees no yeast additions of any kind. A native or ‘spontaneous’ fermentation occurs and lasts through the winter months. When the wine reaches a perfect balance it sees a gentle filtration to remove any remaining active yeast – halting the fermentation.

Tasting Notes by Chris Blanchard, MS: "Beautiful nose of farmers market spring produce; fava beans, tarragon, dill, cantaloupe and melon. Aromatics of Kaffir lime leaf, orange peel, Meyer lemon blossom and lemon curd. It layers the mouth with intense flavors of lemon meringue pie, custard and ripe citrus. Just off-dry, medium weight with refreshing tart acidity and high notes of gardenia and honeysuckle. The wine doesn’t take itself too seriously, but it has a gorgeous long finish and reminds me of a liquid lemon custard pie. Throw this in a bucket of ice this summer, or bring it to a friend’s house to enjoy with cracked crab, or as a refreshing finish to a meal."
