Tasting Notes: "Aromas of pure, clean, ripe fruit reminiscent of blackberry and black currant. The mid palate floods these flavors expansively with only a trace of soft tannin. Satin smooth in the finish, the black fruit flavors linger on and on." - Bob Foley, Winemaker

Terroir: Switchback Ridge wines are sourced exclusively from the Peterson Family Vineyard in Calistoga. The rich, rocky soils of this beautiful vineyard property consistently produce low yields of intensely flavored fruit, resulting in extremely concentrated, fruit driven wines that are the hallmark of Switchback Ridge.

Reviews
Switchback Ridge 2010 Merlot, Peterson Family Vineyard, Napa Valley
Rating: 90

Offers a dense core of minerality tannins, framed by rich black currant fruit and marked with accents of grilled herb, olive and spice. Hands off for now. Best from 2015 through 2020.

Good dark red. Aromas of redcurrant, licorice and pencil lead smell quite dry. Then creamy in the middle, with a fine-grained texture and sappy freshness to the flavors of currant, mocha, tobacco and earth. Finishes with substantial tongue-dusting tannins and an exotic chocolate quality. I find this better-balanced than the 2009 version.
