Location Notes: Seven Hills Winery has been producing Malbec for over a decade now, and were the first to do so in the Walla Walla Valley. They have since proven that the southern edge of the Walla Walla Valley is one of the rare places in the world where Malbec reaches its full potential, with sufficient heat for ripening, but with cool nights preserving a bit of structure. Grapes come from the McClellan Estate Vineyard and Minnick Hills Vineyard.
Vintage Notes: Warm growing conditions, with moderate heat unit accumulation spread throughout the ripening season with normal yields.
Winemaking Notes: After careful vinification in small, open top fermenters, the wine was aged for 16 months in Hungarian and Russian oak (30% new) contributing a unique pungency and firmness that works particularly well with Malbec’s character.
Tasting Notes: The wine is dark
and brooding with intense color and warm, sweet fruit. There is an intense concentration of blackberry jam, fig, date,
and black cherry fruits complimented by white pepper and desert herbs that linger through an long, persistent finish.
