Winemaking Notes: Bush and trellised vines of Tempranillo (average of 50 years old) on limestone and clay soils at 750-800 meters. Handpicked at the end of September. Spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks followed by malolactic in traditional cement amphora (tinaja). Aging for 5-8 months in French and American oak barrels.

Tasting Notes: Saturated color with aromas of dark fruits, black pepper, and even a bit of licorice. On the palate, the wine has gobs of blackberry and currant flavors balanced with wild herb undertones and lively acidity.

Reviews
Bodegas Ercavio 2011 Tempranillo Roble, Vino de la Tierra
Rating: 90

(aged for eight months in French and American oak): Brilliant ruby. Fragrant aromas of blueberry, blackberry, mocha and smoky Indian spices. Very good clarity and lift to the flavors of dark berries, vanilla and candied flowers. The clinging finish repeats the smoke and floral notes. Outstanding value here.
