The Runaway Red Story:
Don't be fooled by the label, this wine does not represent Trotsky. Its name describes the amusing story behind the wine. In the middle of the night during Jimi Brooks' first harvest, a single barrel skidded off the rack and rolled out into the darkness. The wine represents this barrel's quick escape as it accelerated down a hill, and with a gigantic heart breaking splash fell into the creek. When it was finally tracked down, the barrel was found completely intact, between the shoulders of the creek; a true Brooks miracle. This bottling is about pleasant surprises, deep laughter, and good friends.

Winemaking Notes: The grapes were hand sorted and 100% destemmed. They fermented in individual lots and went through a cold soak for 7-20 days. After racking to barrel, the wines aged for 9 months in 15% new French Oak. Brooks' goal with the Runaway Red is to create a light-bodied Pinot Noir with bright red fruit flavors. Nothing too aggressive on the palate, with finer grain tannnins and pleasant acidity. Wine is unfined and filtered.

Tasting Notes: Wonderful bright red fruit in the nose; cherry, strawberry, rhubarb, raspberry with cinnamon and nutmeg spices and graham cracker crust. Candied cherry and wild strawberry, like picking berries in the summer sun. This wine is perfect just out of the fridge with a bit of a chill on it. Fresh red fruits and a hint of tomato leaf, refreshing with bright acidity. The perfect picnic wine to enjoy with a pulled pork sandwich, potato salad or barbeque. Yum!
