About the Wine: Bettina is a gorgeous blend of Bordeaux varietals sourced from three of David Abreu’s own exceptional estate vineyards – Madrona, Thorevilos, and Lucia Howell Mountain. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, and made with the same attention to detail as Bryant, this wine is beautifully layered and complex.
Winemaker, Todd Alexander’s Tasting Notes: "The 2011 Bettina showcases aromatics of dark cherries and black fruits, hoisin sauce, forest floor, violets, dried tea leaves, wet stones, and fennel. It is a gorgeous wine that is full-bodied and spicy, with bigger tannins than the Bryant and a lively streak of minerality. Like the Bryant, it is terrifically balanced with a pleasant, lingering finish. The 2011 Bettina will benefit from a long decant of over an hour in the short term. It will continue to develop beautifully in bottle and should drink wonderfully through at least 2026."
About the Estate: Bryant Family Vineyard located on rocky Sobrante soils overlooking Lake Hennessey at the northern end of Pritchard Hill. The west-facing slope just below the ridge top is perfectly sited to capture prevailing cool lake breezes, while providing protection from drying canyon winds. The combination of soil, sunlight, cool breezes, rockiness, soil depth, and meticulous farming yield wines of exceptional quality. Read more on Napa's Pritchard Hill.
