Winemaking Notes: The three undulating slopes of Terraces cascading down from Block M have always intrigued us and it has been such a privilege to collectively bottle them on their own for the past eleven years. 4.9 acres in total, the Terraces sections wrap 120 degrees around Block M, lying completely exposed to the elements and facing severe wind pressure, several different sun exposures and challenging drainage issues. It is planted to five different clones of Pinot Noir, making for a unique combination of older California field selections and newer Dijonnaise clonal material. 20% of the fruit was gently destemmed with 80% remaining as whole clusters.

Tasting Notes: Cabochon ruby in color, sinister elements of black cherries, cola and gunpowder emanate from the glass. As the wine opens, warm notes of baked apple, Chinese five-spice and fig paste weave alongside dusty components of dried lavender, black truffle and orange zest. The palate impression is elegant and elusive with fine tannins that coat the mouth through the lengthy, generous finish.
