Vintage Notes: The 2013 vintage marks the second year that Banshee has made their Sauvignon Blanc in Sonoma County. A worthy successor to the hugely popular 2012, this vintage really validates their decision to switch appellations from Napa and bring the wine closer to home.
Winemaking Notes: Vinification and elevage was done primarily in stainless steel, but the wine also includes a portion that was fermented and aged in neutral barrels (25%) and new barrels (5%). This mixture gives the wine great texture and superb mid-palate. It also enables the wine to cut a long profile while retaining a refreshing frame.
Tasting Notes: Once again, Banshee has included a healthy portion of the Sauvignon Blanc Musqué clone (30%) which imbues the wine with its unique aromatic signature. It is one part sweet floral honeysuckle and one part fresh spring garden. On the palate one finds green apples, kadota fig and a hint of ginger. Melon and prosciutto are always front of mind when contemplating Banshee's Sauvignon Blanc, although we’re certain it would pair well with a variety of fresh summer foods, such as fish, pork, and chicken. Just looking for a quick patio
sip? Fear not - this wine is equally pleasurable all on its own.
