Winemaking Notes: Destemmed, cold soaked for five days, fermentation for six days with commercial yeast, 1-2-1 pumpovers per day, 100% malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks, 50% aged for eight months, fined and filtered

Tasting Notes: Bright and intense ruby red. On the nose, aromas of black cherries and plums with hints of spices. On the palate, flavorsome: round, powerful, with sweet soft tannins and balanced acidity. Long finish.

Valley Information: Colchagua is the southernmost portion of the Rapel Valley; generally, it is the region that has garnered the top scores and press for its powerful yet balanced red wines. The majority of the wineries are concentrated in the center of the valley (Entre Cordillera), although the pioneers are looking towards the Andes (e.g. Los Lingues) and at the coastal areas (e.g. Paredones) to find new cool-climate terroir.

Casa Silva 2012 'Cuvee Colchagua' Carmenere, Colchagua Valley
Rating: 88

Deep ruby. Pungent, smoke-accented aromas of cherry pit and cassis. Sappy and precise with good depth and youthful energy to the bitter cherry and dark chocolate flavors. Dusty tannins add grip to the smoky, nicely persistent finish.
